Why do I have to pay?

    While there are no dues or fees for membership in AA or to attend a regular AA meeting, Conventions and Conferences are considered special events, not regular AA meetings.

    This Convention requires months of planning, preparation and money to present the event. Since all the events are held at a hotel or Convention Center, there is a charge to the Committee for the use of these facilities.
    We do not pass the basket during the convention like you may see at a regular AA meeting, Therefore, it is through the convention registration that we practice the 7th. Tradition of remaining self-supporting through our voluntary contributions.

The registration is what allows the convention committee to pay for the charges from the hotel or convention center at the end of the convention event.

SO PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE CONVENTION AND HELP OCAAC REMAIN SELF SUPPORTING, AND SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE CONVENTION AND CELEBRATE RECOVERY IN YEARS TO COME!!!
